Cancer of the Mouth
Growths in the oral cavity, on the tongue, lips and gums, as well as the salivary glands and tonsils are common in cases of mouth cancer. If it metastasizes, this cancer will damage the lymphatic system, as well as your head and lungs. It’s more common in men than women who are over the age of 40. Quitting cigarettes and reducing alcohol consumption can drastically decrease the risk of contracting it.

Mouth or tongue ulcers that last for more than three weeks
Many people experience the occasional mouth ulcer, which can be caused by stress, changes in the weather or a compromised immune system. In cases where such ulcers don’t heal after three weeks, they may be symptomatic of mouth cancer.

Other symptoms:

Red or white spots in the oral cavity
Unexplained pain in the mouth or ears
Unexplained lump in the throat
Intense sore throat
Hoarseness and trouble swallowing
Oral swelling and bleeding
Color changes in the lips, gums, tongue and inner cheeks more

17 Aug 16 Brij Gupta Ji, Yes, I agree that there is no single body that is existing today. BUT I am talking and advocating, founding and initiating a Coordinating BODY on all India level/world level, with the help of TECHNOLOGY and willing corp orates like of TCS/Infosys-Narayan Murthy, and if needed the MODI Sarkar. Some one has to do this initiation with knowledge sharing. It is a vague idea and silly thought at first look but when each and every family has a history of more then one life lost to CANCER in India/world, it is high time that this knowledge sharing takes place. I also have lost my wife on 14th June 15 after a fight for 18 months, thru non conventional and conventional like of Ayurveda-Allopathy and Homeopathy, for 4th stage ovarian cancer. By knowledge sharing I mean contactable/talkable references of all cancer survivors [Those who have survived in excess of 5 years after diagnosis and the others who are less than 5 years grouping]. This discussion will have to progress to arrive at some feedback from care takers/ families of patients as well as from treating conventional and non conventional doctors, so that it can be recorded with technological gadgets/Apps designed for the purpose of making it available to other patients who are in need for motivation in their fight against Cancer. You will find scores of testimonies on doctors own marketing web pages claiming cancer taming in no time, to attract the patient in the treatment with them. They never disclose the address of testimony patient treated by them under policy of secrecy. During treatment of my wife, I met more than 19 doctors out of which one gave me testimonial patient references from whom I found that he was still suffering but was surviving without hospitalisation. This was an homeopathic doctor who gave me 3 references of patient-2 of whom had expired before I could contact them. Each and every case is different and only technology can help us to prepare data base. for knowledge sharing. This data must be available free of cost without obligation. If we brain storm this topic, may be some day some solution comes out. Bipin shah more
I stopped smoking and drinking 15 years back, but got oral cancer 4 years back. May be I had oral lichen planus for the past 20 years which got converted to cancer though such cases are rare. I was told that my teeth were not properly aligned and used to continuously bite the cheeks resulting into ulcers. I was advised to remove the molars 15 years back, but I ignored it and hence OLP and carcinoma left buccal mucosa. Went through surgery followed by radiation therapy at AIIMS, New Delhi. Reasonably OK now for a man of 69 years. Can share my story. Col Ashwani Almadi (Retd): e-mail: almadiak@rediffmail.com more
Bipin ji, it is a very good suggestion but i wonder if it will be possible or not since there is no single body who keep record of all survivors of cancer in Delhi/NCR etc. It is true that cancer patients spend huge money on treatment of cancer if detected in advanced stage without survival but please understand that there is no way out, one has to continue his efforts to get treatment for relief from pains and other side effects even if knowing that he has limited time. In my family alone, I have seen 5 cases of cancer and we did all possible treatment as per Doctor advise but could not survive except may be prolonging life for few months or so. But if the cancer is detected in early stage, the cure is possible and in my family and friends circle, I know few cases who have survived for last 10-15 years with continued treatment as per doctor advises. more
Is it possible to make and publish every month, the cancer survivor identity with name-address-email-phone details so that sufferer can contact them to get first hand experience of the battle to be fought. Can some feasibility in this direction be done? Cancer is a monster and those who get it are at varieties of planted medical treatment options that yield no results in advance stages and lakhs are spent by then killing the resources of family. First hand talks in person would innitiate decision making with alternatives and motivation.\ Bipin Shah more
Very informative. Thanks more
