cancer drugs price to increase

Many a time Doctor's prefer to prescribe medicines where he can get a good commission, they don't care your life. Better to take second opinion. Go judicially. Cheaper generic drugs of Indian make works most of the time. More important is drug selection. Buying Costly drug doesn't grantee your fast recovery. In this Doctor's need to understand and treat his patients judicially. Doctor's need to understand their patient is paying fee. more
government should reconsider their decision. Actually these drugs should be made cheaper and affordable. more
The government should withdraw the duty after ensuring the good generic drugs are available in the local market and easily available. more
As a Pancreatic cancer patient stage IV I have to buy Abraxane vials for Rupees 18000/- per vial when the Indian generic version was available for rupees 10,000/- per vial. Then when I was prescribed Capecitabane 500mg (XELODA) which costed rupees 2002/- for ten tablets (4 tablets per day is the dosage) which was imported Roche product. The Indian CIPLA generic version Capguard 500 (capecitabane ) was costing rupees 600/- per ten tablets, the Goenka company Indian generic version of Capecitabane 500 was costing Rupees 1500/- per ten tablets. I consulted the onfologist who said it is your liffe and go for Xeloda. which is iomported. Now this may cost more for me and other pancreatic patients. It is a fallacy that poor families who take treatment in government hospitals also prefer xeloda though for them they have to sell lands to buy because the oncologists say they cannot vouch for quality of Indian generics. The Goverment is coming under the Indian Generic production big fat cats lobby who are going to gain at the expense of poor patients and middle class for whom and every one their own life is precious. We have sold our house for my treatment and the poor arre selling their lands if they had it. more
This needs a correction. i agree to GSR Rao but also for a debate just completed on a premier national channel ether are drugs that are patented for cancer patients, Haemophiliacs and for aids who do not have generic (Indian) versions and hence it is likely to affect the costs and they may go skyrocketing. more
