Very interesting discussion. I feel given an opportunity most of our farmers would be willing to explore other livelihoods opportunity than farming. There is an urgent need to revamp the entire agriculture sector. Irrigation and sustainable farming practices are key. Ambitious project of interlinking of rivers must be revived to ensure irrigation availability to all farm land. This will reduce dependence on vagaries of nature. Further our agriculture universities and KVKs also need to undergo changes and connect more with farmers. more

Because land prices are sky rocked and income from agriculture tends towards zero. Government must give minimum assured rate and guaranty to purchase the crop. more

The ground reality is that wards of traditional farming community look down upon farming. more
