Barbecue Nation also profiteered

Barbecue nation is a restaurant chain here in north India and New Delhi. One goes for buffet at this place.

After GST rates for restaurants were reduced by Govt in November from 18% to 5%, barbecue nation increased prices instead of reducing them.

Price of veg dinner before rate reduction on 9/11 was 862 which was increased to 929 on 15/11.

Similarly non veg dinner was 969 on 9/11 and on 15/11 it was increased to 1039.

Attached is analysis of connaught place location. Kindly investigate.

Many other restaurants must be profiteering like this. Do check friends... more

Say, for example, a restaurant paying a rent of 3 lakhs, plus 18%GST = 3.54 lakhs. Earlier they used to claim this 54,000 GST paid. Now no tax credits allowed. So , this cost of Rs.54,000 is now added up to the running costs of the restaurant, hence pushing up the price more
Restaurants used to get Tax credits earlier, but now with 5% GST, it cannot claim any tax credits, resulting in increase in costs of raw materials, and hence pushing up the prices. It is more for high rental properties, where they pay huge GST, but get no tax credits. It is a genuine cost increase and shouldn't be taken as duping. more
It is unfortunate that barbecue nation increased prices instead of reducing them. more
All restaurants in the country have done this malpractice to dupe their customers, which was discussed at large in this forum in the recent past. more
Here we are talking about Fine Dine Restaurants. Let me tell you everybody including Government run Restaurants are also passing on high cost to consumers. I have been visiting Gujarat Bhawan behind Ashoka Hotel on Kautilya Marg, Chanakyapuri since January earlier this year. I used to have the Gujarati Thali in January priced at Rs.110 + Taxes for Normal & Rs.130 + Taxes for Special Thali (with sweet dessert). It slowly increased to 120 (Normal) & 150 (Special) in 2-3 months. When we went to have Lunch there on Sunday, the new pricing was Rs.126 + Taxes (Normal) & Rs.163 + Taxes (Special). Surprisingly with increased price too the number of diners seemed to have only increased since our first visit in January. So it seems that people don't mind paying higher price if food is good and quantity is also sufficient ( which in the case of Gujarat Bhawan ) I must say is quiet good. more
