Why should the Govt. ban older vehicles? Will this banning reduce the pollution levels? As long as the vehicles have the engine exhaust levels under control, vehicles should be allowed to run. This ban is economical disaster for low income and middle income Indian population. more
This must be discontinued in its present form. Objective of the provision needs to remembered while drafting a scheme. A Taxi may be running 100000 km in a year whereas a private car may be doing 4-6 thousand km in a year. How can the two be judged at par? There will be variance in quality of emission between a well maintained car v/s not maintained, etc. A vehicle that is polluting beyond a defined level may be stopped irrespective of age and a non polluting vehicle, irrespective of age should not be impounded. more
Very stupid of the government. The longevity should not be based on age of car … calculating on basis of number of years is absolutely absurd … it should be based on mileage usage of a car and engine fitness test vis-à-vis pollution … it’s being done abroad in more affluent countries of Europe etc. so why not here in India … we are still economically poor population … and this is a disaster for the middle class people … The pollution test with engine fitness should be deciding factor for any old vehicle to be banned from getting fuel. The new technology cars and specially the luxury cars can run for years and years without being problematic … This is very reckless erratic decision and not what I was expecting of the government at all … more
if the vehicle is kept well serviced, it can go life long without any pollution. Scrapping of good working old vehicles will cause damage to economy also. more
