Artificially ripening of fruits either by using carbide or other agents are very harmful to the health is a well known fact. Govt do take action. But traders use residential areas as godowns and store the fruits there and ripen it using carbide. This practice should be banned. All godowns should be registered with the Food and Civil department. Food inspectors should regularly make a surprise visit and inspect the premises. Any trader found using chemicals for ripening should be fined and jailed. Till this practice is not declared as a criminal activity, it will go on. This should be treated as a chemical war. Only then this will stop. more
