Appalled at Aviation Minister

Says Social distancing requirement is not met even if middle seats in flights are kept vacant, so we will fill up middle seats.

Yielding under airline pressure. People should just not fly keeping their own safety in mind.

The Govt should seriously look at retiring or replacing such ministers. more

It is correct to say that leaving the middle seat empty won't help in maintaining social distancing in an aeroplane There is an article published by IATA https://www.iata.org/en/pressroom/pr/2020-05-05-01/ more
They talk about doing as much as possible on ground to possibly detect and isolate an infected passenger. However police beating and harassing people on road or govt selling train tickets at exorbitant prices has got nothing to do with leaving the middle row empty in the aircraft. Anyway the SoP, if it's followed correctly chances of spread is vastly reduced. Physical distancing is to be maintained when possible practically and within a passenger aircraft it's not always possible. Further no one is forced to fly if they have a doubt about their safety. more
The whole article is full of childish points based on only commercial approach who recommends distancing when you are in airport but not onboard, SILLY!!
What is the logic of saying this "CORRECT" may I know, being father of a doctor?
All these are happening in our country where police harass you when you are walking in the morning on an empty road but govt shamelessly selling AC3T tickets with Rajdhani fare in special trains. High cost air travel is allowed with a common armrest/6 inch distancing between passengers literally touching each other and IATA saying nothing will happen,
ENJOY INDIA a 6 month lock-down circus. more
Social distancing in passenger cabin is possible only when one side alternate row seats are kept unfilled along with middle seat where row seats are allotted . Similarly , opposite side of aisle , row seats keeping middle one unfilled may be staggered by one row of passenger seats of other side .By this way , airlines may loose two third seats of an aircraft approximately . Definitely , the operating cost with one third seats allotted by Airlines will be required to be compensated either by increasing air fare proportionately or by completely waving off VAT, Excise Duty on Air Turbine Fuel (ATF) etc., which bears 30% of operating cost of wide body aircraft of airlines and also the Airport Landing , parking Charges including ATC for the time being . First of all , Airlines have to deliver their services to nation urgently and for which Govt/Ministry has to support airlines with full throttle ON condition so that they may serve the nation without any hurdle when national need arises . more

Pilot and copilot sit next to each other; for maintaining social distance, airlines should do away with copilot??? more
Pilot & Co-pilot don't seat attached to each other like economy 3 seats.
There is a gap. Then few pilots can always be under health surveillance and in terms of probability infection from only one co passenger is much less than 8 people seating within 2 feet (if you are in any middle seat).
How it is possible to do away with copilot. Anything can happen to only one person under control and then?? more
The cabin will be fully sanitized . Second all the staff will go through a thorough check test ; that is atleast in the interest of their paymasters the flyers . more
Why not do away with both pilots and senior citizen can fly the aircraft? more
Latest Trapeze show in Aviation circus. Quarantine is not required if you fly!! but required if you go even by Rajdhani from other places. If you go to Bangalore you have to stay 15 days at their selected Hotel at your expenses. Just imagine your total expenses and harassment. Great going Govt. more
Trains are running. How are people supposed to reach startions? The commissioner hopes that travellers would have made their arrangements. Shows how the decision makers are working in silos.
And today is a lockdown in Bangalore. No one allowed outside and no public transport. more
