I would like to know if anyone here is aware of or has used any natural/Ayurvedic remedy to cure hypothyroidism and come off eltroxin or thyronorm completely? more
Kindly avoid broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and sprouts these are decreasing the iodine levels in our body which is necessary for hypothyroidism patients. Manju P, Tejaswini Vyas, It is true that Yoga asanas and Pranayama plus appropriate diet and traditional treatments help in improving thyroid function; but it is not advisable to totally depend on them, because once a deficient thyroid, it is likely to remain so or even worsen as years progress. The best thing to do is to first correct your hypothyroid status by taking thyroid supplements like eltroxin or thyronorm as per your physician's advice. All other therapies should be supportive. As you keep improving your thyroid function through other therapies, your physician will keep reducing the dose of thyroid supplements. However it is very doubtful whether you can totally do away with the need to take thyroid supplements. Yoga will help as long as you do it very sincerely. The moment you skip the asanas for a few days, your TSH is likely to shoot up. We should learn to accept the reality and take medications accordingly. Being mildly hypothyroid is much better than being diabetic. But if you skip your thyroid supplements, you are likely to suffer from myriad other problems which includes depression. more
