Dear Friends the Annual Kanwar Yatra is becoming a cause of concern at least for the people living in west UP. The number of participants is increasing year by year. Whole life of these cities comes to halt. Office goers can't reach office in time. All the district administrations and state Governments are trying to do their best to give more facilities to those who participate in these Yatra without thinking about the others who live in these areas. I am not against any religious procession but it's the duty of Government to protect the right of other road users or there must be public as well as under negotiable Instruments act holiday in west UP or at least in three districts Muzaffarnagar, Meerut and Ghaziabad as well as Delhi. The other solution is to construct a parallel road to facilitate the Kanwar carrying People. Due to this yatra just calculate how much petrol/diesel and precious foreign exchange is getting wasted in jams and diversions. Apart from this many of the roads where people put tents by cutting and digging roads breaking dividers get damaged and no one bother to repair them afterward. I feel residents of these districts and specially people of Ghaziabad must raise this matter at all available forums to find an amicable solution to this annual problem. The Government should ban this Kanwar Yatra by foot , instead of this special trains may be run for people to go to Haridwar and bring the Holy Water by train and do the required puja. more
Dear NAVNEET SARIN Ji Yes you are right This yatra is really trouble some to common man There must be some alternate to this function -------------------------------------------- (Advocate, Joint Secretary, Ghaziabad Bar Association.) shared a new resource in "Ghaziabad Constituency". The discussion so far warrants regulation and self restraint on the part of the participants. 2 is a company, 3 is a crowd. More than that becomes a mob and have a different mentality altogether. more
Very right sirji, A corridor parallel with rail line can be made for this purpose also which can be used by common people rest of the time. regards more
I have a different point of view here about the Kawanriya Yatra... Now a days, such religious activity become fashion rather pure spiritual. The basic problem of us (Hindu) is, we forgot the logic and actual way of following the tradition and now only copying others. I believe most of people do not know that why we are having such traditions in our culture. Can you imagine the amount of noise, pollution and chaos created by these Yatras in life of people who are daily struggling with these problems? It's huge. I'm in favor that people should first teach about the traditions and then they must know why we are having such traditions and their core values. then they should follow the yatra in the ways it is defined in our great Shastra. Government should also have a provision of having a non interuptted dedicated route for yatras to avoid hurdle in local people lifes. more
I agreed with already published earlier statement of Mr. Dinesh Goel, chairman, RKGIT that separate road for kanwar yatra should be built by Uttarakhand and U P Government. I think this will be the right solution to this problem. more
