And the problems of getting good medical aid in India are monstrous. Especially for the aged whose insurance is either too expensive or 'condions apply'. The conditions are toughest possible.
I would quote two examples from my own family.
My wife 70 years, developed AMD (age related macular degeneration) a cyst on the retina which may lead to blindness. She got two monthly injections of one rarest medicines in the eye costing Rs. 28,000 each. Cost of injection itself was Rs 20,000. Subsequently she had to move to Singapore because of some family compulsion where this cost came Rs 1,25,000 only. Cost of the exactly same injection itself was Rs 80,000 only.
Second case is of my elder brother who suffered from blockage of three heart arteries. He was asked to deposit Rs 4.5 lac as advance in Columbia Asia hospital of Gurgaon and total cost with six days of hospital stay and three stents came to Rs 6.5 lacs.
My contention is are these medical aids privilege of the rich and selected few. What are the seniors' rights. Giving 50% discounts in Railway travel enough. more

Dear Har Dayal Dawra ji,Excellent Post. Senior Citizen must be rich then only he can take best treatment. Medical Insurance wala also reluctent to insure S.C. more
