Airline profiteering from seat assignment

This is good localcircles and consumer affairs sept. Attached in economic times of today. Please ensure it reaches aviation minister Suresh Prabhu. As railways minister he was reasonably responsive.

There should not be any charges for selection of seats. more  
I THINK A CONSUMER MOVEMENT TO NOT ADOPT ONLINE CHECKING NEEDS TO BE STARTED AND THE AIRLINES SHOULD BE FORCED TO ALLOT AVAILABLE SEATS AT THE CHECK IN COUNTERS WITHOUT ANY EXTRA COST. TO START WIT A FEW FLIGHTS OF EACH AIRLINE COULD BE TARGGETTED FOR THIS PURPOSE. more

There should be no extra charge for seat preference. The seats should be booked as the ticket is booked whether online or off line. Seats for senior persons and ladies alone travelers should have some form of reservations for themselves - comfortable access to the seat and seating. Flying is a service first business later only. more  
What is the necessity for online check-in? Instead, reach the airport at least 90 - 60 minutes in advance and ensure your seat of choice without paying anything extra. Even if you get online check-in, you need to reach the airport at least 60 - 45 minutes ahead of the departure time to hand over you check-in luggage and security checking. more
