Air Quality Life Index Report

Air Quality Life Index Report is attached and issued by University of Chicago. Says air pollution cuts life by 4.3 years on average in India. In Delhi by 10 years. In Noida and Ghaziabad by 10.7 years.

Serious shame on those who govern us who despite all this have been letting the situation persist since 2015. This is a public emergency, For God's Sake treat it like one. more

Greenery is the only solution to keep away pollution. For the sake of modernity and commercialization, we forget our cultural development of gurukul education concept away from township in the jungle, playground for children in township and keeping away old generation putting them in old age homes lacking grand parents affection to their grandchildren. All these things are necessary to build concrete nation more
Will request all the learned members of this circle to patiently read through the writeup that follows . This is the only sustainable way to solve not just the problem of pollution but 3 more glaring problems and that too withoht further taxing the tax payer . This is the only workable means to save us from the killing pollution levels in metros . Govt of the day needs to solve the 4 maddening problems facing us - 1. Maddening unemployment and under- employment destroying the peace and sanity of the society . Youth blaming Govt for all their ills . 2. Maddening pollution levels in metros and mini metros killing and maiming the citizens ,destroying future productivity 3. Maddening traffic congestion destroying current productivity 4. Challenged sustainability of NEW SMART CITIES where millions of Tax payers hard earned money is being spent ONE SHOT SOLUTION to all above ills - Just shift the Board of Directors ( CMD and Directors ) of the cash rich CPSUs out of metros / mini metros to one new smartcity each. Just this announcement and you create 100 booming centers of economy spread across the country , generating tons of employment due to 360 degree priming of economy . Once the purse string controllers , the Board of Directors of the cash rich CPSUs shift to new smart cities , the vendor partner eco system follows for pure economic business sense . Glaring example , Board of Directors of Coal India with 30000 Cr cash surplus may be shifted to Naya Raipur in Chattisgadh . Just this announcement will make Ceat , Apollo , Balkrishna Tyres , MRF open offices in Naya Raipur . Why ? because Coal India has potential to place orders for tyres and conveyer belts worth Rs. 5000 Cr per annum . PWC , EY , GT , BC , KPMG open office in Naya Raipur . Why ? Because Coal India has the potential to issue consultancy orders worth a few 100 Crores every year . Reliance retail , Adani Retail , More , D Mart open shops in Naya Raipur . Why ? Because they now have well paid consuming population . All hotel chains open new hotels in Naya Raipur for the same reason. In short , retail , hotel , education, travel , entertainment , logistics open shops in Naya Raipur now as they see paying population. But where do they get employees to work for them ? From Dhamatari , Kondagaon ,Mungeri , Jashpur , Koni , etc ie the small towns and villages in vicinity who otherwise would have run to metros for livelihood further damaging the congestion and pollution levels there . In short , you end up solving all above listed 4 problems !! And we are suggesting 100 such replications across the country creating A real new Happy India. A small price to pay by the Board of Directors of Cash rich CPSUs by leaving the so called comfort of metros and shift to new smartcities, in ensuring health , wealth and prosperity of India . Will request to make this a reality . more
We have to learn from developed countries and check Air and water pollution.Corrective measures are to be taken on war footings.Citizens have to mend wrongful practices.Punishment should be severe and in timely manner.Nobody has right to play with the life of people. more
Quite alarming! Disgusting to see the government which should control and ensure quality, itself having set a threshold (40 micro gram per cubic meter) much higher than other nations which care for their citizen. This is only pollution in the air. If a similar, unbiased study is conducted on global water pollution, I bet we'll rank last in the table. Rules, Thresholds, Standards, Regulations, etc., are only meant for records and not to be put in practice or implemented. Mera Bharat Mahaan! more
The following mail was sent on 7th April 2015 to the member secretary CPCB:Kind Attn:Shri Sush Sheel Kumar, Chairman, Shri Akolakar, Member Secretary Sirs, It is nice to learn through the news papers today that Hon. PRIME MINISTER has formally announced the AIR QUALITY INDEX monitoring system for eleven cities to begin with. In this regard, I have written to the CPCB in Oct,2014( the details mentioned here under) which is self explanatory. Subsequent to it I have received one reply from Mr.Prashat Gargava(Sr. Environment Engineer) dated Dec 19th 2014. Still those issues raised by me are not answered and in absence of any long term data, of AIR Quality across the country , city and state wise of different seasons, it may not be appropriate to set some INDEX value. Like the stock exchange "SENSEX" OR "NIFTY", It is once again stressed the nee to review it IN THE INTEREST AND SPIRIT of the ENVIRONMENT issues. Sincerely, Kaushikk Vyas more
