On the issue of induction of people with criminal record into the cabinet, the Supreme Court did not give any ruling or direction, but said that it is left to the PM's discretion. The inherent rider in this is that the PM should not induct such persons, as implied by the Constitution. Hence the SC verdict cannot be taken as an approval of the present cabinet inclusions. This is an important issue with serious implications for the elimination of corruption. It will be quite difficult to drop people with criminal record from the cabinet at this stage, but has to be done sooner than later, in order to uphold the credibility of the PM. Drawing a distinction between accused and convicted serves only as an excuse for maintaining the status quo. more
There is something great happening. How about arresting and punishing the corrupt ministers/officers people who were involved in this? Recovering the ill-gotten money from the illegal deals with 100% fine, would be a good start.
