Medical shops in big towns don't sell loose tablets. If I need just four pills of a medicine for two days treatment, I am forced to buy the entire strip of 10. This is a part of the nexus between pharma companies, doctors and medical shops. Most doctors, under the influence of pharma giants, already now prescribe 5 days treatment in order for the 10 tablet strip to be consumed. The consumers not only have to pay for something they don't need but risk adverse health consequences due to over consumption of medicines.
Stringent action needs to be taken to control this menace. more

The solution to the problem raised in this forum lies with the manufacturers of these medicines; instead of strips containing 10 tablets, the strips can be of 5 or so; in some cases, like the diabetic tablets I hv seen that the strip contains 7 tablets, one for each day; Most of the time, the customers reject if the tablets are sold to him in ones or twos, because the loose tabs do not contain the details of date of manufacturing, composition etc; it is not safe to buy tablets when these info are not verifiable; more
