28% bracket GST

has items like cement, automobile parts, tyres, automobile equipments, motor vehicles, commercial air conditioners, yachts, aircrafts, aerated drinks, betting and sin items like tobacco, cigarette and pan masala.

We should discuss what out of this should be left in 28% and what should be brough to 18% and then LC should submit it to GST council for consideration. more

28% GST must be totally abolished barring 2-3 items which are harmful for humans. more
Really??? Do you really need a 28% bracket in the first place? means you pay 30% Income Tax and then use taxed money to buy goods any pay another 28% on the same? which earth are we on ? this is absolutely rubbish am surprised nobody ever comes forward and there is no opposition on this at all mostly because companies dont care the GST is being paid by the end consumer and the government does not care as long as they get some funds so that their ministers can travel by air and see the world.. I say we first debate what class travel should be entitled to ministers and if upper class why? why not working class! more
To discourage alcohol and cigarette, all other items should be in 18% and 12% slab. more
I cannot see the views of Shriram Phatak but am fully agreeable with Mr. Shishir Kant's opinion. Many do not want to pay heavy taxes and why should they? Service tax at 18% is a sham and a shame. The PM is like Robin Hood and his merry men, with PM as Robin, A. Jaitley as Big John and Amit Shah as Friar Tuck. Robbing the middle class and rich and giving to the poor without making any efforts to revive government bodies and make profits from them. more
Waking up fond memories of Disney Robin Hood! Amit Shaw as Friar Tuck, is it due to grey and black suits he wears?

Amusing apart, I beg to differ with you on rest of your post. There have been sizable progress in several areas, though much more could have been done.

While erstwhile Sales Tax was levied and paid by all, why not Service Tax? In fact, Service Tax was introduced by Dr Manmohan Singh in 94 that started at 5% and then moved on to 15%. Prior to GST, rate of Service Tax was still at 15%.

Taxation had existed all the time in one form or other. GST too will take sometime to settle down to stable levels and let us hope it happens sooner. more
all white goods should be in highest tax bracket so that govt can do
something for the poor. Tax is the donation for nation's poor.
