I am reporting a case of how the negligence is taking place in super specialty hospitals where they charge exorbitantly but the services offered are so defective.
I gave a urine sample for testing ( routine and culture) to Mayom hospital Lab in South city Gurgaon. In the evening, I received the report online which showed the results being normal without any infection. My wife had been having history of recurrent urine infection and the test a day before done in Fortis Hospital had shown a severe infection. The doctors asked for a second test from different lab and that is why I gave the sample to Mayom hospital for testing.

However, next day, I went to the hospital to collect the hard copy and was surprised to find that this report was completely different than that sent by sms and online, and was more or less in conformity with the report of Fortis hospital. When I confronted with the Lab technician and Lab doctor there, it was just tried to brush off saying that it might have been a computer error in sending the report online.

I want to ask, had I not gone to collect the hard copy and taken the print out of the report available online and gone to the attending physician, the treatment would have been completely different and delayed. Was it not the Mayom hospital duty to inform me if the report was sent wrongly??
This has happened with me, who is well qualified and have number of doctor friends, imagine if such errors occcur with common people. more

MCI should take necessary action in such incident. In India every thing is expected because our politicians are lacking will power to reform the system due to their vested interest. Our doctors are not so qualified because of reservations. Ram Yadav more
BESIDES MANY LABS JUST THROW AWAY STOOL AND URINE SAMPLES AND GIVE A NEGATIVE REPORT. ALWAYS WE SHOULD GO TO A TRUSTWORTHY RELIABLE LAB WITH INHOUSE ANALAYSING FACILITIES. SAMPLES SENT ELSEWHERE FOR TESTING OR ONES HOME COLLECTED ARE VERY OFTEN MISHANDLED AND MAY GET ALTERED DUE TO LONGER TIME IN COLLECTION AND TESTING. more
Satya Pal Ratti saheb, i would certainly be interested. My mail id is : prasad.durgap@gmail.com more
What shicks me is the lack of action by the Medical Counci of India. Let Local Circles invite/insist that MCI become a member and keep posting such cases of negligence that come to their notice and the action taken by them. The names of the doctors involved and the hospital should be published on social media to reach the common man. They should also come out openly on the checking systems in place to prevent medical negligence as well as medical robbery by the Corporate Hospitals. It is an open secret that the highly paid doctors are given targets both in terms of number of patients as well as the revenue they should generate for the hospital that they work for. What steps is the MCI taking to tackle the problem. They should come out whether they work for tne common patient or for the Corporste houses. more
Excellent suggestion by Mr. Durga Prasad ji. Local Circles must approach MCI to join and then they will know what hanky panky goes on under their nose. more
