non-electricity based water purifiers are the need of the country to provide potable water to the rural population and to the salaried and middle class. unfortunately GST code for water purifiers is not listed in commodities listed in the GST. But 8421 is categorised as liquid and gas purification systems, under industrial category ad attracts a very high GST of 18 percentage. Request the council to please reduce it to 5% to enable non-electricity based water purifier manufacturers to provide the purifiers below 1000 rupees mark and reach out to more needy people

The application of GST/CGST should be on item or services that carry a value addition that logically may attract the sales on tax. It is not understood why this Government at the Centre and those at the States are applying GST/CGST on items that have nothing to do with the public property or asset that a consumer is going to use. GST/CGST application on products used by solar energy system, e.g., solar water pumps, solar lighting bulbs, solar charging of batteries, etc. must not be charged the taxes like GST/CGST . I sign this petition with very convincing arguments in support of the petitioner with a request to all of my friends on FB, Whatsapp, and Linkedin also to support the petitioner. more
