The power supply has been improved for the past one year and half. However, there are unofficial,undeclared power cuts even during crucial hous of the day twice or thrice., there by hampering the datas in the system. Meter reading is done at different dates, if house holders are not available, readings are not taken and basis charges then levied are not made known to the householders. They do not make entries in the Householders cards whey they come to pay the charges at counters.
Next thing, is cash receipts are given only when paid in cash directly. However, for those who pay their charges on line, they neither get Receipts on line or have their meter readings and amount on the card. Even in the SMS that the E.B.. send to the customers do not have information about the number of units consumed during the bimonthly period. Both Defects should be rectified.
The practice of renovating the outdated, mutilated, damaged EB Plllor Boxes definitely a cause and point of danger to the children and animals which go near them unnoticed. During rainy seasons these open Pillar Boxes with open ends of power cable there in get water submerged and causes Electrocution to men of different ages even at distances. Hence all such power boxes should be rewed and kept atleast 3 to 4 feet higher than the ground level while renewing them.
When field work is done there is no field supervisory work done by the A.E.s about the work done peroperly. This should be ensured.
Night break downs, especially during rainy seasons, is very very poor. Lady A.Es do not go tothe field work spot and do only desk work.
From Consumer side, there should be one Advisory Committee to the ELE.Board to advice on changes that the EB should make on behalf of customers/public
The A.E. offices of the EB which caters the needs of the customer/public should have one Public Relation Assistant in the Information Desk to .give correct informations to the public who come get clarification on very many points. Generally these customers are turned down informing that they do not have time to explain to them. The P.R.Assistant can be in the category of Junior Assistant and can help customers to get various forms, applications, with a computer system to assist him.
The cost of Power supply has become deared to the customers beyond their capacity. The Government should rethink to restructure the tariff. The Government of India, Power Ministry should change its policy in this regard.
Within the City limits, large number of HIGH TENSION POWER LINES are running. Once these areas were vacant field, but because the municipality/corporation given permission to construct houses, these H.T. power lines happen to run along the road sides of many city roads/sub urban residential roads. These OPEN HT CABLES. CAUSES FATAL OCCURRENCES, especially during construction or when women inadvertently dry their wet cloth over these lines. The route of Such HT Lines should either be changed or these cables should be replaced with insulated cables in such areas immediately. More over in the city in many places, L.T. cables are also seen as over head wires. Such cables must be changed to underground cables in view of public life saving.
Generally substandard work, or material in E.B department causes the toll of life. The authorities must be careful in execution of work correctly as per specifications and also use of proper materials.
The Administrative size of EB is very large. Therefore this could be divided in to two Regions in Tamil nadu.as NORTH TAMILNADU E.B. and SOUTH T.N. E.B. This will improve the working administration as well as control over the technical Staff properly. The Power Generation plants as well Non conventional Power generation, like wind Power generation, Solar Power Generation can be brought under one chief Engineer which will augment to the better and improved performance

Voltage fluctuations, beyond the limit of tolerance, damage to the equipment and gadgets, in any season whether summer or winter and I don,t blame the filed people who really try to their best even in odd hours. This means that there exists deficiency in the supply, planning and granting new connections.
