This is again area of corruption.Most of the houses are not taken on PMC 's property Card to work out new Tax.Even though the buildings are converted to 3000 sq.ft area they still charged property tax at the old rate of R. 890 which was established in 1963-64.
If the Govt has allotted land for construction of houses and to build society hall for only its members of the society only,the PMC charges property Tax as if it is Commercial Hall and charges @ Rs. 8 per Sq.ft per month which is on higher side.

In Gokhale Nagar the houses were constructed by MAHDA and were allotted to Panshet flood affected people.Now the same house which were of 250 Sq.Ft in 1963,are converted to three story building covering 3000 sq.Ft area without any PMC plan passing or any Development fee.PMC's stand is these are constructed by MAHDA so they are the decision makers where as MAHDA says PMC is providing services so they should take the entire responsibility.The result is people have constructed the building without approaching PMC and paying any fees for plan and such buildings are not accounted for increase of Property Tax.
