Archaeological sites, temples should be maintained in good condition by qualified and trained technicians, supervised by architects and structural engineers. Infrastructure of roads, toilets, rest houses, eating places should be well maintained. Son et Lumiere shows should be shown at these monuments on their history and importance. Qualified guides should be available at reasonable cost.

These should be highlighted so that instead of travelling overseas, citizens firstly travel to see our own culture.

Our varied cuisines should be given world exposure

All the above is poorly done so far.

Our culture is diversity but we seem to have lost that - this ministry seems to be dying under the burden of hindutva - can we just talk Indian here. Revamp and rethink required urgently.

I first would like to say that we have the most sublime cultural heritage and one that we all can be most proud of. Having said that... I would like to take point on the matter of email communications with both the Ministry of Culture and in particular the Archaeological Survey of India on how poor they are at responding to emails... the point of having an email system is to enhance communication with the public and from my experience both these division have failed miserably in responding. The 'average' rating is due to this one point.

We are fascinated towards western culture. But don't forget old is gold. Our old social arrangements, oath in religion, discipline, virtues, respect for elders and parents and so many positive attitudes are not forgettable.
