In our locality of Girish Park kol 700006, in our lane, Jorapukur lane, besides 232, c r avenue, the local public with the affiliation of some political parties, pee around in the open and when complaints were made to local councillor, smt. Smita bakshi, she said what can i do. Even on narrow pootpaths, daily new hawkers such as chaiwallas construct new shops thereby blocking the footpaths. This all happens with the support of TMC.

Our area has been annexed to KOLKATA MUNICIPAL CORPORATION in 2011. The Gali no.30 in which we live is a kachcha one. There is no sweeper. Garbage is thrown all around. KMC workers come once in three months to weed out grass and other plants that grow along the path. The area falls under ward no.143 of KMC. The gali no. 30 is nearly 500 meter long etremely uneven path which is difficult to negotiate for a normal person. Just think of a person falling seriously ill in this area because ambulance will not enter this gali as KMC tried to lay the sewerage line half-heartedly and spoiled the whole path.

In the area where I live, the road sweeper is busy from 3.30 in the morning till 2.30 in the afternoon, sweeping and picking up the garbage from the drains. This is because the food stalls and tea stall on the footpaths are continuously throwing plastic cups and waste like egg shells and tea leaf in the drain. Also there is a street tap where people are bathing and washing clothes and that water stands in the drain because the grille is blocked with garbage. But because the KMC service is so good I want to rate them 5 stars.

There must be a predetermined scale to rate the performance of Municipality on over all basis. In absence of that the rating would be subjective one and not objective one at all. Hence rating scale has to be fixed at first prior to seek rating. Since this program is software driven I am giving my rating on subjective way having *** stars out of 10 stars. I would like to highlight the short comings of DURGAPUR MUNICIPAL CORPORATION. Ward no 27 where not a single road is suitable for driving . Road sides & open spaces are full of garbage. Nobody is there to look after.
