Bhubaneshwar (BBS)

Bhubaneswar Station is in total mess.
The escalator is not working, announcement is mostly not done for important trains and information not displayed till last minute making a chaos to run around to catch the train.
The platforms no. 5 & 6 newly made and half made making the passangers inconvenient to walk.
Parking of four wheeler is limited due to space constraint. Platforms are not clean enough considering the footfall of passengers. The person attending enquiry also attends telephone inbetween making people stand in queue for a longer period than required. There is no system to display cancelled/ diverted/ delayed train information which can reduce the queue length in enquiry for repeated type of info.

Bhubaneswar Station needs remodeling.The waiting hall for general passengers/sleeper coach is mostly occupied by unknown persons particularly in the night.There is control to check identity whether a person entering is passenger or outsider.
No proper urinal in Plat form no.2/3.The list very big but I draw the attention for these two matters only.

BHUBANESWAR Station need realignment and be shifted to new location of Bhubaneswar with well planned development – stair case of over bridge is overcrowded during arrival of train may some time for apparent stampede.
Cleanness in PF – No1 is quite good but test of the platform needs attention.
The announcement system totally at mess they continue to announce even after train already left the platform and fore casting arrival announcement made when train is already in platform.
The platform vender’s saleing cooked packed food which already spoiled damaged rotten. No railway officers attend the complaint or taken steps to destroy such stale foods to maintain hygiene and food safety of travelling passengers.
The only 2nd class waiting room at plat from no1 master canteen end for down line trains for conmen travelers is unclean and full of garbage’s. There is waiting room at plat from no1 cuttack road end for UP line trains
The only enquiry counter at master canteen end is very difficult to locate as it is in a corner and that too covered by two big wall pillars also it managed by D group staff with rough behavior and without any voice PRS system that compels other similar – same query passengers jam the enquiry counter for common repeated answer. There is no enquiry counter Cuttack road end Enter exit plat from 6 specially for up line train passengers
Though it is head quarter STAION OF OF East Coast Railway Zone it appears it struggle with manpower shortage in managing issue of ticket at peak hours and other services. Its service standard is visually very poor compared to Visakapattanum Station of the same railway This indicated and visualize the performance in other stations under ECR.

Should gear up to be known as one of the smart stations in the country.

It has the potential to be one of the best stations of the country. South Eastern Railways have their headquarters in Bhubaneswar, and therefore Bhubaneswar could be one of the crown jewels of the railways. Another 169 Kilometres down South is Brahmapur railway station in operation since 1899 built by the British. This station also needs much improvement as a important hub of South Eastern Railways.

less platforms. need more security checks at the entrance and exit. luggage carrying facilities not available, need more cleaning and elevator in other platforms also.
