GST portal has become a joke

Businesses are struggling with the GST portal to file returns, get input credits etc. The home page says that GSTR1 for August can be filed. An email is sent by GST mentioning that the GSTR1 for August, September can be filed (it is the most confusing email ever). Now, I go to the dashboard and submit GSTR1 for August . The same old message comes "GSTR1 cannot be filed for current date. please check....". After a few minutes, I try again. This time the message does not come. But, nothing happens. And the "file return' button is never enabled.
The portal has become a sort of joke, as with the frequent changes in the GST. Looks like the government was in a hurry to give Rs. 1800 Cr. for the development of the portal, which is nothing but a data entry system.
Would be good to know what inputs have they got from the actual users of the portal and which of these have they implemented, for there is no provision for giving suggestions on the usage. more

In one's personal perspective, there is no gainsaying that the GST Portals in place, are, - going by what the actual users, having a hand -on experience have been complaining of, not without merits, right from the inception, - undeniably replete with technical glitches and far more serious problems. In fact, according to the eminent law EXPERTS' viewpoints, openly aired and shared - as re-shared herein before, the GST Code itself might have to be drastically revamped / restructured suitably, so as to make it 'work', in a fool- / safe-proof manner, as originally planned by the government, and expected of by the stakeholders, not barring the taxpayers requiring to bear the brunt of the entire indirect tax burden. GST portal is developed and probably managed by Infosys. They should explain and resolve the problems. Govt is getting bad name for their failures. more
The company can only develop the software based on the customer's (in this case the Government) brief to them. This is a classic case of rushing to implementation without proper preparation & education of the ultimate users (the taxpayers). And now to make matters worse the government keeps changing the requirements every few weeks each of which require some tweaking to the software - increasing the possibility of glitches occurring. They need to simplify the system hugely to get everyone onboard & used to the new processes and then they can proceed step-by-step to implement things like invoice matching etc. more
In public ,Govt.& GST interest Finance Ministry should provide proper GST portal for filling returns and sort out difficulties faced by traders more
Would like to Know Regarding the Purchase of a Flat. Earlier the Service Tax was 4.5 % while the Taxes and Duties were inclusive in the Cost of the Flat. With the Application of GST Why the Customer is expected to pay the GST? What is the Remedial action for the Customer to Recover the Cost of the Tax Saved by the Builder. Would appreciate Guidance for the Public. Regards Promode Kapoor more
It is high time that the Govt should open call centers to help the users online on a 24x7 basis. It seems that those who understand the system in totality are not involved in the design and implementation stage and those who designed and implemented are not clear about the GST concepts. It is dragging too much and time is running out. Little seriousness from the officials' part can bring in significant changes in the GST filing. more
