It has a card (like the SIM card in the mobile). The regulator can force the companies to provide the card only rather than complete dish and set top box.

Why can not we have a single set top box and utilise the same set top box to access other DTH operators IF THE SERVICE OF ONE SERVICE PROVIDER FAILS TO LIVE UP TO THEIR PROMISED LEVELS OF QUALITY...???... IT SHOULD BE POSSIBLE ON THE LINES OF MOBILE TELEPHONY.......UNLESS OF COURSE, THE GOVT. THINKS THAT THE DTH OPERATORS are FREE TO DO WHATEVER THEY WANT SINCE THEY HAVE TAKEN THEIR " CUT " WHEN THE
SPECTRUM OR BROADBAND WAVES WERE BEING " ALLOTTED " TO THEM. IS THERE NO JUSTICE IN THIS COUNTRY ....???... DTH OPERATOR OR MOBILE TELEPHONE OPERATOR SEEM TO THINK THAT THEY ARE " ABOVE " LAW AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ALLOTTED THE SPECTRUM....AND COMMENCED TRANSMISSION..???.... ARE OUR MINISTERS OR TRAI SO POWERLESS TO REIGN IN THESE PRIVATE OPERATORS BECAUSE THEY HAVE TAKEN THEIR

DTH operators are selling customized SET TOP BOXES(STBs) which cannot be reused when customer changes the operator and is compelled to purchase STB again and the old STB remains with the customer unused. This is not only waste of money for the customer but also creates electronic junk which can not be recycled. Government should end this monopoly of STBs and standardize STBs and make operators provide interchangeable STBs to protect Customer interests. more

my cable provider is JAK Chennai. i asked for more Bangla channel they are pounding me with more regional channels. they do not have website where i can choose my channels in Rs 290 pack. more

Instead of lingering on the process, let us speed up the matter with Government for the rectification of the irregularities. more
