Air Fare caps increased

Even when demand is low air fares are high. A Delhi - Hyderabad or Delhi - Bangalore generally 6000 is selling for 9000.

And amidst this the govt has increased the cap as attached. Both min and max have been increased.

Makes no sense more

Is there any service where the Government or Service Providers or the sectoral Regulators have ever decreased their rates/charges? Theses Authorities/institutions are primarily meant to squeeze the citizens by regular increase of rates for the benefit of business interests! more
I fully agree with Mr.Rajiv Gogate. But what about the Railways? Every train is a special train and there is no concession for Senior Citizens or ladies. more
Normally, transport is not an urgent requirement and that too by air, even lesser so. Those who can afford, do travel by air. What is wrong if these people are asked to pay more ? There will be a limit to the rise of fares which will be balanced by the demand. Every time we cannot ask for concessions. We as a people are not ready to pay tax, want free medical faclities, free education, free food etc. The list is endless. No society can accept such irrational demands. more
As it appears on the face of it, GOI has introduced VGF (Viability Gap Funding) to Air Lines operating for some sectors in Tier II and III cities where in small air ports are made operational and in order to encourage such places to resort to flying at an economical fares thus helping the air lines. Due to current/prevailing conditions, GOI may not have been interested to fund such initiatives for the time being and allowed air lines to charge full fare by fixing Minimum and Max fares. more
Common public is always made a scape goat by passing the financial burden of companies providing Transportation, Fuel, Food & Hospitality services. They are doing so because there is a section of common public who still manages and affords to pay the hiked prices. They may be 2-3% of the total population of our country, ut due to this trend, companies find it easy to justify their price hikes and ignoring the general public. Everyone knows that companies in the sectors mentioned herein have got their income increased many fold in the period following the "unlock phase" of COVID. Air India for example has charged hefty fares (almost thrice than the normal fare) for their Vande Bharat flights which went fully occupied on may of their International routes. Same applies to other sectors where the price hikes are justified by them with an excuse of losses faced during the complete COVID lockdown period for a period of 4 months. more
