Icecream Standards
I just found that most ice cream companies like Hindustan unilever - kwality walls, cream bell etc are not serving icecream and recentky lost a case where one of their competitors proved that they are serving icecream made of vegetable fat instead of milk fat. They can no longer call they are selling icecream but have to say they are selling frozen desserts.
Are their standards for ice cream set by BIS or FSSAI. Also question is why would we let so many companies sell ice cream to people made from vegetable or hydrogenated fat and not milk.

Why only ice cream! Please name one consumable item of the country which is prepared in accordance with the stipulated standard! All most everyday we read in news papers that such and such products are manufactured with most disregards to the stipulated standards and health hazards and 99.90% of the consumables manufactured and marketed in India are sub-standard containing human health hazards, whereas, the same companies manufacturing their same products in other countries are in accordance with the stipulated guidelines. For examples, the soft drinks marketed in our country are much inferior to those available in other countries, which are contaminated by ingredients prohibited for human consumption as their consumption could be lethal to health but who bothers! more

The Issue is ONLY with Unilever's Kwality Walls - Please review the Ingredient List - includes Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils (Dalda). They use the term Frozen Deserts as they are NOT permitted to call it Ice Cream. This is NOT recent - Its at least 10 years Old as an issue. As they do not call their product "Ice Cream" on any packaging they are fully compliant with the rules. more

A very well orchestrated propaganda to promote AMUL Icecreams...this bull shit story of other manufacturers using vegetable oils has been in circulation for the last 4 years. Besides Amul, you have a number of companies in Ice Cream Manufacturing sector: Kwalitys, Arun (South), Dinshaw(Pune), Vadilal(Gujarat), Havmor(Gujarat), Cream Bell( Delhi)...also there could be many players in States all over India. I for one have tasted almost all brands mentioned and am still hale and hearty without any side effects. It has become a human nature to question each and every product and dump blame on FSSAI. If these were the case, then is our Justice Department also sleeping. Who doesn't love to have a dessert of Ice Cream? Every Wedding or Functions is incomplete without the iced sweet...how many have died from the alleged vegetable oil fats ice creams? more

hope after the elections the govt will imbibe more powers to fssai and give it powers to legislate and also penalty more

In Hindi there is a saying Aankho mey dhool jhokna. These companies have been taking us for a ride and that too at exorbitant price. I generally try to buy only from AAvin or Amul because they are based on Dairy products. more
