I blame the farmers
Farmers are to be blamed for their problems. I am from overseas but I am in the commodity business and understand farming. Whenever I read about farmers dying, crying, protest - I have no pity. They never took the trouble of learning better farming, no paanchayt bothered to educate them, and politicians & Jamindars want them to remain uneducated. They just want to take loans from bank but do not use it to upgrade their farming. My cousin is a Phd in agriculture in India and he said his work is hampered by politicians and bureaucrats- so what is the use of his skills?
They wait for rain but when it comes, they are complacent and think good days are always-do not manage rain water. Always expect govt to do something - they should do it first.
PM Modi traveled a lot to understand all this and wants to implement but oppositions just want to block and stir up the farmers to protest.
The stupid farmers do not realize how many man days they loose by coming to Delhi to protest.
When they get huge crops- the prices fall- this is normal. The consumer is for sure happy. There is a min price set- so be happy else you have to throw your produce on the street. Instead of blaming the govt for low min support price, they should sell their produce fast so that they have cash in hand to invest back in farming next year, as God is not going to be kind in giving rain every time. Educate the farmers to improve farming and use the loan to invest in their land and see the results. more
