GOVERNMENT PANICS AS EX-SERVICEMEN STIR ESCALATES

GOVERNMENT PANICS AS
EX-SERVICEMEN STIR ESCALATES

Ex-servicemen keep PM Narendra Modi on tight leash
Caught in Catch 22 situation on One Rank One Pension (OROP) issue, Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) tried to pacify the agitating ex-servicemen by calling them in for a meeting through Chief of Army Staff General Dalbir Singh Suhag but failed to make them agree to discontinue or suspend their stir.
Initially, the government based on its own assessment had clearly under-estimated the protest, taking the view that after the first flush it would subside. That it did not came as a surprise, according to the sources, more so as several top officers of the defence services came out in full support. The police action was the last straw and has united all Retired Military Personnel into what is now a major protest, strong enough to shake any Government at the Centre and in the States. more

If the Nation can not afford to pay for Defense Services, it can reduce or stop further recruitment. Keep a ceremonial Army like the Guards at Buckingham Palace. Let the leaders admit it. more
Krishnan :They make false promises because we do not punish them for not delivering on their promises more
we do not understand that why the politicians made promises which can not be complied ? more
IT IS A COMPLEX ISSUE. THE GOVT. SHOULD SET UP A COMMISSION OR HIGH POWER COMMITTEE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. IN THE MEAN TIME THE EFFECTED OFFICERS SHOULD BE GIVE SOME TEMPORARY RELIEF, SUBJECT TO ADJUSTMENTS IN FINAL SETTLEMENT. THE DISPARITY EXISTS IN CASE OF ALL PENSIONERS IN ALL SERVICES. THE PENSION IS BASED ON THE LAST PAY DRAWN. WITH INCREASE IN PAY SCALES AFTER EVERY PAY COMMISSION THE SALARIES OF THE SAME RANK KEEP INCREASING. RESULTING IN HIGHER LAST PAY DRAWN OF LATTER RETIRING OFFICERS. THUS THEY GET HIGHER PENSIONS THAN THE OLDER OFFICERS OF SAME RANK. THERE SHOULD BE SYSTEM TO READJUST THE PENSIONS OF OLDER EMPLOYEES WITH EVERY PAY REVISION OF SAME RANK EMPLOYEE. GOVERNMENT HAS STOPPED OFFERING PENSIONABLE JOBS TO CIVIL EMPLOYEES. THIS WILL REDUCE THE SIZE OF THE PENSION DRAWING PERSONNEL. more
We should only see how USA and UK look after their retired Armed Forces personnel and if someone gets martyered during course of duty how his family is looked after . They both are democracies like us. It is high time that Modiji filfils his promise of implementingthe OROP scheme without any further delay as per approved definition in the parliament. More the delay bad for the nation in the long run. more
