Foggy Day Driving

Re-Sharing this fog driving post that LocalCircles had sent. I have a printout of it in my car.

Here are some of the tips from our members on Driving during foggy conditions:

•Keep your minimum safety gap to three seconds in ideal conditions; with the decreased visibility fog causes, this interval should be increased substantially.

•Slow down. Most fog-related traffic accidents occur because someone was driving too fast and couldn't stop in time to avoid a collision.

•Make sure that you can be seen. Turn on your fog lights, and use low beams. High beams direct light up into the fog making it difficult for you to see. Low beams direct light down onto the road and help other drivers to see you.

•If you leave the road, be sure to pull off completely. Turn off your driving lights and turn on your flashers so others know you're there but won't think you are driving on the road.

•Always use your defroster and windscreen wipers in foggy conditions to keep the windows clear.

•Keep an eye on your speedometer and maintain a slow, constant speed.

•Remember that other drivers have a limited sight distance and that fog can leave roadways slick.

Signal early, and when you use your brakes, don't stomp on them. more

Nice sharing more
Thnq for sharing it was really important more
Thanks Mr Baldev for tips while driving in foggy day . Regards. more
The ideal normal driving gap with the car in front is recommended to be 3 car lengths - one should double it in foggy conditions. In terms of time 4 seconds gap is recommended. It will be easier to judge the distance gap as compared to time gap for most people. more
Good points. Please also add that people should not drive with their flasher/hazard lights on. A very bad habit. Flasher/hazard lights are to used in case of emergency like mishap, breakdowns. I fail to understand what they will use in case of an accedent or breakdown. Thanks Raajiv Choudhari 09650155600 Sent from BlackBerry® on Airtel more
