Disaster Preparedness of Delhi Hospitals

Dear all:

In light of the recent quakes and aftershocks, we would like to seek your inputs on what can be done by Delhi Hospitals (both Govt owned and Private) to be better equipped to handle disasters.

Also, if you have feedback on the Govt Hospitals Disaster Mgmt and Emergency wards, kindly share with us.

Brother reality is far below to imagine on papers. more
As observed in past on paper we are much competent to face the disasters like earthquake/fire/flood etc. but in fact when the problems came there are so many hurdles i.e. equipments are out of order, machines not working, medicines are not available or short. Shortage of Doctors and helping hands. All such aspects must be taken care of in advance. As far as Pvt Hospitals are concerned there should be strict instructions for them to entertain each and every people without focussing or targeting on money. They should provide immediate help to the needy at that time without asking them to deposit money. This should not only be followed in disasters but must be followed in each emergency case on humanitarian grounds. As I suggested/commented earlier there should be some regulatory authority for private hospitals/labs also who looks after their tariff/charges/services and welfare of the public. more
I have been writing to this Circle that If people are taught Pain, weakness, Improvement of Energy level and boosting Immune system of people without medicines, most of the people will not fall prey to sicknesses. Lions Club will carry out this duty as a National Service. It will be free. Appoint our volunteers in various hospitals to offer complementary treatment for pain and weakness and observe the instant pain relief. I along my Lion friends have confidence of having treated over a lakh of patients for pain relief. Proof of pudding lies in tasting it. We are ready to demonstrate. I am sure vested interest will not allow us to do so. Please C our videos on U Tube. more
Government hospitals are over-crowded and yet with available resources they are doing a great service to the Society. We must have more Government hospitals since as on date we have only one doctor for approx. 10,000 people which an alarming situation. Private hospitals on the other hand are a profit earning industry. They must do some service to the society at least at the time of a disaster. It should be made mandatory on their part to treat some specified number of persons free of cost and for this some regulation must be enacted. more
In case of disaster like earth quack, i am very sure all hospital including pvt hospitals will provide medical assistance to the injured otherwise govt can even issue orders for the same and cost factor can be worked out later. I am also confident these hospital buildings are designed to withstand earth quack shocks. But all of us and govt should worry about our tall societies which are supposedly designed to withstand the earth quack. Who has checked those designs and their implementation. As far DDA(Our approving authority) i doubt if they check up the structural designs. They are only approving the plans and construction quality is at the mercy of builder/contractor. Govt needs to re validate the designs so that some timely action could be taken.Something needs to be done on urgent basis for old building in Shahdra and old Delhi. There buildings will come down like nine pins. If nothing is done on very very urgent basis Modi govt will face the situation which Modi faced in Guharat on 26-01-2001 on a much bigger scale. It is not enough to act fast after the disaster,it is very very very important to visualize the problem and act now more
