Cleanliness

I am from Abohar, a small town in Punjab that has border with Rajsthan. I live in London and recently visited my home town. My whole family stays in Punjab. I was very disappointed to see the condition of roads/cleanliness of the city. Day by day its getting worse. The key points i am mentioning here
a) There are bulls moving around the city, many lives have been claimed but no action has been taken by authorities regarding this. The basic right of any citizen is to move safely around the city.
b) The whole city roads have become worse and worse. You can't drive/ride without jumping on any road.
c) Near to head post office office, there is a lot of rubbish/garbage accumulated that needs attention. Its stinking like anything. But none from the authority came forward to help with this.
d) After cleaning sewage, the garbage keeps lying on the main street for two days and none cleans it up.
e) The railway gate stays closed for hours leaving people waiting for hours in hot sun.

I hope this post helps to grab attention from the authorities.

Everyone cares about the big cities but small cities are where most of Indian population lives.

I have gone through the above exchange of comments by Saurabh, the initiator of the Topic "Cleanliness" and the comment by Tirtha Sarkar and further exchange of comments by them and the main Topic is diverted on who is responsible for such UNDESIRED CONDITION of any small/big Village/Town/City to be blammed for Not Paying Any Attention and Surprisingly Two Educated and Matured Citizen of India(may be of any Town/City OR State have exchanged these Remarks !?! Dear Friends Firstly We ALL Know Very Well that which is the Local Authority and Who Forms that ? For Any Dwelling Place viz Village/Town/City. I Think We All are Well Aware that It is We the Residents of a Particular Village/Town/City Elect Ward Members To Form A Panchayat/Nagar Palika/Municipality/Corporation which I Think is Now Commonly Termed As "SEVA SADAN" Who from Within The Elected Members Select/Elect Their Leader who is known as Sarpanch/Palika Pramukh/Mayor and then The Elected Committee Gets A Govt. Representative Normally Called as Municipal Commissioner who channelises the Budgeted Fund for Various Essential Project for the Well Maintenance of the Town/City. Now Secondly What is the Source of Fund for Meeting the Approved Budget Requirement for Expenses ? It is Nothing But The Local House Tax/Land revenues/ Other Levies/Legal Duties etc Together with The Grants from the Government channelised through District Authority. Hence Dear Saurabh The First Thing for Well Educated(that too NRI) Citizen like Yourself should Meet the Local Authority Head through Your Elected Member from Your Ward of the Town and Discuss The Issue Initially Verbally followed by in writing with a copy to DDO(District Development Officer) and should try to see that necessary actions start for this Issue of Cleanliness Priority Wise that is Most Dirty at Important Place Like Head Post Office must be attended first and so on.. but without any favouritism so that the best work continues as per Priority of the matter. My Dear Friend The Crocks of My Above Posting is It is We Ourselves Shall Have to Take First Step To Start to Solve This Important Issue Which is Vital Importance For Any Dwelling Place May be a Village/Town/City. B'coz We are The Local Govt. As We have Elected a Member From Our Ward to The Local Committee Responsible For Well Maintenance of Our Town/City and If The Need Arise We Must Be Able To Change Our Elected Member If He is Not Paying proper attention to his required Duty for which He himself opted to Get Elected/Selected from the Ward. I would Earnestly Suggest/Request My two aggrieved Friends Dear Saurabh and Tirtha Sarkar that IT is Need of The Hour We have To Start To Take First Step and You will Get All Required Support From Government Particularly For Your Issue of "Cleanliness" as WE ALL HAVE A POSITIVE ATTITUDE GOVERNMENT AT LEAST AT CENTRE WHO HAS STARTED THIS DRIVE OF CLEANLINESS. Hence Please Do Think Over and Try To Get Your Friend From Your Area Join With You For This Drive. I Wish You All The Good Luck. more
I know, but still in big cities there is a road built up to walk/drive/ride(might be with a pothole) but in my city if i share the pictures then we can see how is the condition. Really disappointed with what condition my home town has been into. everyone loves to visit the birth place but day by day its getting worse. more
Saurabh - that is the story of almost all of North India. All our technology are meant for show off - either to sell knowhow abroad, or for showcasing for grabbing the world's attention (space research, etc.). Application of technology in the daily lives of India is all but absent. Talk about garbage disposal, designing and building of modern roadways, traffic control, town planning, updating public service workflows to keep up with citizens' needs. None of that. We are using pretty much what the Brits left us a hundred years ago. No government is interested in upgrading them. Even in big cities. more
