Cabinet Minister dies of Covid-19
Kama Rani minister of technical education in UP Government died today of Covid. The virus has become far more prevalent and therefore dangerous. Opening up for the sake of opening makes no sense. Attached case report of UP is understated because so many people are not getting tested. Full lockdown for 3 weeks needed in Uttar Pradesh. more

I am at a loss of my wit to understand the suggestion of locking down the state as cases of Covid-19 infection is increasing. To my understanding, lock-down is no treatment of the disease. It may at best enforce social distancing but the same would be gone once the lock-down is lifted. Also, the cost of lock-down is too huge to be clamped to perpetuity. I am afraid, we need to live with the virus till a vaccine and a treatment become available to all residents. more

We need to change our daily routine maintaining social distancing, regular exercising and maintaining proper hygiene and cleanliness around us. This will help whereas Lockdown is no solution but a catalyst to more problems. more

More people are dying because of lockdown and non-COVID health conditions than are dying of COVID19 but we are not collecting any data on them. Lockdown must be ended as soon as possible. more

It is voluntary behavioral change which would flatten the curve. No where in the world, lockdown changed people's behaviour. Why is it hard to put on mask, keep a social distance, wash hands and not touch your face with unwashed hands? How come a congested place like Dharavi has done so well? In New Zealand and several European countries, it is the voluntary behavioral change that worked, not lockdown. We have to save both: lives and livelihhod. Does lockdown do that? And please read today's New York Times. Vaccine production at the rate of 500 vaccines per minute began a few days ago at the Serum Institute by Poonawalla at his personal cost of over US$450 million even though Astra Zeneca has not yet completed the clinical trials!! more

Full lockdown is not solution as it has more serious impacts. More people will die out of hunger and mental issues as around 70 to 80% people needs to go out daily to earn their livelihood. Government can't fund the daily expenses for all such needy families, majority of the support has been from people with big and kind heart who donated generously to help needy for past several months. Lockdown was the idea to prepare and upgrade the health services but many states have done little on that front. Even if you put a 3 months lockdown, it will again turn back. Instead there should be more focus on health services, ensuring people are using masks and other precautions. Delhi is a good example, there was peak at some point but now their curve has started flattening. Though Delhi is more liberal on lockdown compared the rest of the state, but they have second best recovery rate in India. I suggest all people to think about the poor around whenever you think about another lockdown. Someone said that when you have no money in pocket that you have no other fear than hunger for yourself and your family. I will rather support UNLOCK process initiated by government and stop thinking about lockdown sitting in our cozy houses. more
