Amritsar Junction (ASR)

The cleanliness is not up to satisfaction. It requires lot of attention.

Recently, I travelled through Yashvantpur through platform no.6. Many peoples reach via city bus to the station. While peoples reach from Bangalore City side, there is no proper bus stop, where from using a subway peoples can reach platform 6. There is a safe way by climbing Metro Platform and climbing down near platform no.6. but most peoples don't know it. As the platform is at a higher elevation, there should be a safe underpass from a designated bus stop. At Bangalore City Railway station peoples can reach safely from bus stand to station using elaborate underpass & foot over bridge. Similar things should be made for Yashvantpur jointly by Railway & BBMP.

1. The Amritsar railway station needs 2 more platforms as the trains almost stop in the outer due to insufficient number of platforms.
2. Secrity is also very poor with no baggage checking machine police officers doing their duty improperly.
3. There is one Esclators only on single side and that too doesnt works properly.
4. Drinking water and toilet facility is not availbe at all platforms.
5. Lots and lots of work is needed to improve the facilities at amritsar railway station and make it up to the level.

I was to board Hirakund express on 5th March night supposed to leave from PF-2. While coming down the step from the foot over bridge my wife tripped because of a chipped off step and rolled down. Luckily she was saved by fellow passengers and escaped sure death. There was no bony injury but the haematoma on right side of the body from head to toe will take one more month to subside. Steps that are not fit should be stopped from being used by passengers. The mental and physical difficulty I faced and will face for a month or two more is beyond comprehension. Such things should not repeat.

I have been to Amritsar once only in Nov2015.
1. Eating/ catering facilities are good.
2. signages and announcements are regular.
3. no escalator facility.
4. platforms appear very old with cement chipping off at many places. Need urgent attention.
5.The station is NOT at all in sync with tourist flow. Need serious urgent attention.
6. Waiting room toilets dirty. Simply cannot be used. had to use the toilet of a train waiting for departure from platform no.1.
